The Return 01:18
(Instrumental)
2.
The Idol 05:36
From Hell I came That’s where I’ll return I serve the Master I’ll bring you to burn Bow down to me Made in His image Cast out of stone I am the Idol I serve Him alone Give Him a sign Show your loyalty Devote your life To serving me Bow down to me Satan’s children dressed in black Too late, can’t turn back You’re one of the chosen few Hear the voice calling you Feel the heat, feel the fire See the flames reaching higher Too late, can’t you tell You’re going to burn in Hell You’re going to burn! From Hell I came That’s where I’ll return I serve the Master I’ll bring you to burn Bow down to me
3.
Devil Rider 04:47
Devil Rider riding through the storm Bearing messages riding on and on He’s got to get through Or it means death for me and you Forever Satan’s messenger riding through the night Riding like the wind, morning’s in sight He’s got to get through Or it means death for me and you Forever Devil rider Devil Rider riding through the storm Bearing messages riding on and on He’s got to get through Or it means death for me and you Forever
4.
Born To Die 05:54
I could never see the reason for it all Knowing no one lives for ever So I’m just going to live my life out to the full Without the fear of the great ledger Can you believe it Can you conceive it That you’ll be up in the clouds with a choir of angels Or if you’re bad then You’ll be damned then You’ll be burning below with the fire and brimstone And so there is no need to worry anymore There’s so much hardship and starvation And when, oh when was the last miracle procured To bring the faithful their salvation? Can you believe it Can you conceive it That you’ll be up in the clouds with a choir of angels Or if you’re bad then You’ll be damned then You’ll be burning below with the fire and brimstone There is nothing you see… We’re born to die And I just haven’t the conviction to believe In all the prophets and dictators They lie, they cheat, and they wickedly deceive In the name of some unseen creator Can you believe it Can you conceive it That you’ll be up in the clouds with a choir of angels Or if you’re bad then You’ll be damned then You’ll be burning below with the fire and brimstone There is nothing you see… We’re born to die
5.
The Storm 05:38
Look up to the sky The storm clouds are forming Tension’s running high The signs are a warning Your time has come Countdown’s begun You’d better run from the storm The storm’s drawing near Engulfing the nations In the stratosphere Total devastation Your time has come Countdown’s begun You’d better run from the storm Look up to the sky Acid rain, tears of sadness The Gods start to cry At man’s wanton madness Your time has come Countdown’s begun You’d better run from the storm
6.
Born Loser 04:55
If you’re cheated and used, hurt and abused Well I think that you’d better take care You do the things you think right but you just seem to fight Well I think that you’d better beware You’re a born loser For no reason or rhyme you just lose every time From this jinx you just can’t get away Every message you send always seems to seem to offend Well you know you’re unlucky that way You’re a born loser Try every night but you just can’t make it Thought you were right but you know you can’t win So please take my advice and always think twice Don’t just jump at the first thing you see What seems good at the start ends up breaking your heart And of that you can sure guarantee You’re a born loser Try every night but you just can’t make it Thought you were right but you know you can’t win Always lie when you can, always curse always damn Cause you’re no better off if you’re straight Just turn the whole World down flat, they won’t thank you for that But they still give you longer to wait You’re a born loser Try every night but you just can’t make it Thought you were right but you know you can’t win
7.
I’m dragged screaming to the altar I’m down on my knees A figure in black High on the throne… I made a deal with the Devil My soul’s heading for the fire I’m burning The black candle flames flicker There’s no returning I made a deal with the Devil I made a deal with the Devil I made a deal with the Devil I sold my soul
8.
Fate ran a sword through my heart I thought we never would part You meant everything to me Why did you have to deceive Without saying you had to leave You could not be found at all You could not be found now it’s hard to believe That you’re playing with fire You’re playing with fire You said you’d nothing to hide So why do I feel that you lied Surely you must know by now Surely you must know that I’ve got too much pride You’re playing with fire You’re playing with fire You thought I can’t see your game So why shouldn’t I do the same Watch your fingers don’t get burned Pushed your luck too far, you’ve just yourself to blame You’re playing with fire You’re playing with fire
9.
Death Dealer 04:17
Out in the evening you know he’ll be there He’ll cunningly tempt you to go to his lair Just beware! The Death Dealer’s hunting, he preys on your kind Before you can notice, he steals in your mind You’re so blind You’d better watch yourself You know he’ll bring you down Prepare now to follow, he’ll feed on your pain He knows you’ll be calling again and again Who’s to blame? You’d better watch yourself You know he’ll bring you down Oh beware, just take care, Beware the Death Dealer
10.
Moonlight 04:30
My eyes are open in the full moon’s light My body rises in the heat of the night, oh no, Pray for me now I can’t stop it, it won’t go away But will I ever see the light of day again? Pray for me now Heed the warnings from your mind, Can’t you hear your conscience screaming all the time Moonlight With the shadows on the ground Moonlight My mind is aching, I can feel the pain My bodies shaking, I can feel the strain, oh no, Pray for me now My eyes are pierced by the bright moonlight I see the future in the dead of night, oh no, Pray for me now Heed the warnings from your mind, Can’t you hear your conscience screaming all the time You must be strong, straight from your heart You must be strong, don’t drop your guard Never give in, even when sin is calling to you In the shadows I can slip away Anyone can be the next to pay, oh no, Pray for me now And now the dawn is rising all around And another missing person’s found, oh no, Pray for me now Heed the warnings from your mind, Can’t you hear your conscience screaming all the time Moonlight With the shadows on the ground Moonlight There is evil all around Moonlight You don’t know what you’ll find Moonlight When the Wolf devours your mind! Moonlight

about

When the "classic" Son Of Odin line-up reunited, one of their first missions was to record the songs from their early 1980s days that they hadn't released on record before. From the very first songs they wrote on their formation, such as 'The Idol' and 'Devil Rider' to later contenders for 'The Son Of Odin' album such as 'Born To Die', this lost material was finally released in 2003 as 'The Idol' album. The band reverted back to producing themselves with assistance from Mike Emson. Vinyl LP and digital download cover artwork by Matt Denton. CD cover design by Ewan Powell
