1.
Back in port after sixty days at sea, A hot meal and ale is what we need So we head to the tavern door And as we entered this is what we saw A drunken mob of scurvy dogs, Raucous as they sang their song With a tankard in their hand, This is what they sang... Damn your eyes and pass the rum! Drink! Drink! Drink! ‘til the devil comes Raise the flag and beat the drum We’ll drink to the devil and the midday sun Every drink loosened their lips And from their mouths a secret then did slip Of a dead man’s treasure chest, Buried when he was laid to rest The map was in their hands, So to steal it we made plans With them distracted to a man As those sea dogs sang... Damn your eyes and pass the rum! Drink! Drink! Drink! ‘til the devil comes Raise the flag and beat the drum We’ll drink to the devil and the midday sun With the map we knew just what to do, Lie in wait outside, press gang a crew Those dogs will be easy meat When they stumble out into the street By the dawn we’ll be out at sea, A fair wind is all we need The Eagle’s voyage can now begin, Below the mast we’ll sing... Damn your eyes and pass the rum! Drink! Drink! Drink! ‘til the devil comes Raise the flag and beat the drum We’ll drink to the devil and the midday sun

Press Ganged 03:39
There’s no need to fight, there’s no need to fuss There’s nowhere to run, you’re coming with us We come out of the black We strike from the back It’s a lightning attack You’re Press Ganged! We stay out of sight, we won’t make a sound The next thing you’ll know you’ll be ocean bound We come out of the black We strike from the back It’s a lightning attack You’re Press Ganged! It’s a lightning attack Now your whole World’s turned black There’s no turning back
3.
Horizons 01:23
I turn my eyes to the distant horizon Where the sky meets the sea Somehow I feel that my destiny lies on Where the sky meets the sea The golden prize of which everyone speaks is Where the sky meets the sea Hours turn to days and days into weeks Where the sky meets the sea
4.
Fifteen weeks upon the waves, the barrel’s running dry I’ve been away from home so long, I feel like I could die Then suddenly across the seas A distant voice floats on the breeze… “Come to me!” Could it all be in my mind? We’ve been at sea so long Yet once again it comes to me, the sweetest sounding song Above the sound of crashing seas That voice is there upon on the breeze “Calling out to you men of the sea with my enchanted melody Feel my haunting rhapsody bewitch your soul and come to me” Many wrecks lie on the rocks, led into her trap We have to turn this ship around, just don’t look back Turn tail and run across the seas While that voice cries on the breeze “Calling out to you men of the sea with my enchanted melody Feel my haunting rhapsody bewitch your soul and come to me”
5.
Sail On 05:47
When you hear temptation call and you think that you might fall Just hoist your mainsail high and sail on Never let your eyes be diverted from the prize Just hoist your mainsail high and sail on Sail on, Sail on If you feel life brings you down and you’re trying not to drown Just hoist your mainsail high and sail on If you’re struggling my friend, you’ll get there in the end Just hoist your mainsail high and sail on Sail on, Sail on If you’re struggling my friend, you’ll get there in the end If you feel life brings you down and you’re trying not to drown Sail On When you hear temptation call and you think that you might fall Never let your eyes be diverted from the prize Sail On
6.
The heavens open and the sky is turning black The waves are slamming like the ship’s under attack The thunder roars, the lightning strikes There’s not a hope in hell we’re turning back tonight Onward through the storm! There’s not a man who cannot feel it in his soul That fear and panic when the ship begins to roll The thunder roars, the lightning strikes There’s not a hope in hell we’re turning back tonight Onward through the storm!
7.
Mutiny 04:50
Out there in the darkness I see shadows in the night I see the factions forming, something doesn’t feel so right I hear the plots and scheming of murder in our beds Their ruthless and conniving ways have raised their ugly heads Some men are born to follow, others born to lead Some they follow nothing more than treachery and greed It’s mutiny! Action must be taken to nip this in the bud Those who seek to overthrow shall pay now with their blood With ringleaders now swinging from the yard above the deck To warn those who sought to follow will be hanging by the neck Some men are born to follow, others born to lead Some they follow nothing more than treachery and greed It’s mutiny!
8.
Almost There 04:57
Underneath the burning sun we anchor in the bay With pounding hearts we race ashore, the map to guide the way Seven armed and dangerous men with murder in their eyes A ruthless lot, you would not cross, they’d kill you if you tried My whole life’s been one perilous journey But now I feel I’m almost there The road’s been long but I won’t falter in my quest For I won’t rest ‘til I get my share Of silver and gold Passing every landmark ‘til the secret spot is found Some fall upon their knees, clawing at the ground Some wait with bated breath, or pray through gritted teeth All eyes fixed on the dirt, just wondering what’s beneath My whole life’s been one perilous journey But now I feel I’m almost there The road’s been long but I won’t falter in my quest For I won’t rest ‘til I get my share Of silver and gold
9.
Here we are at journey’s end There is no gold my friend No “Happy Ever After” waits for me What will be, will be Like a whisper on the breeze, Like sunlight through the trees All my hopes and dreams Fade and die But I’ll not start to cry Or hang my head and sigh I won’t walk away and die No not I, no not I Lady Luck is not my friend Fortune cheats me in the end Destiny has always left me flat While Providence just stabs me in the back Like a whisper on the breeze, Like sunlight through the trees All my hopes and dreams Fade and die But I’ll not start to cry Or hang my head and sigh I won’t walk away and die No not I, no not I Like a whisper on the breeze…
10.
Evermore 05:58
Back on the waves with salt in their face The thrill of adventure burning strong They’ll seek out new treasure, they’ll hunt for new gold Fuelled by rum and hearty song So hoist up the sails to ride on the breeze And plunder the seven seas For evermore The Siren’s been waiting, biding her time Ruing the one that got away The Eagle approaches, her song draws them in This time no-one will be saved Enticed to the rocks where there is no escape They’ll rest in their watery graves For evermore With arms held aloft, enticing them down The Siren embraces all her prey The cries of their souls echo loud through the deep Their life-less bodies float away The crew of The Eagle is lost to the sea But their legend lives on and on For evermore

about

Following founder member and bass player Kevin Dobb's retirement from the band in 2012, the remaining members of the "classic" Son Of Odin line-up re-united to record and release their sixth studio album 'Voyage Of The Eagle' in 2020. Luke Fabian stepped in to do a solid job on bass on the album before bassist Mark Mulcaster joined the band on a permanent basis. The band once again produced themselves, and were joined by Katie Alys Barton on guest vocals as The Siren (The Siren's Song) and Marc Rolf with Katie on backing vocals (Drink To The Devil). Cover artwork and song illustrations were by Duncan Storr.
